About PRP
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy uses a concentration of your own blood's platelets, injected into an injured or painful joint to support your body's natural repair process. Learn more on our how it works page.
No. PRP uses concentrated platelets from your own blood. Stem cell therapy uses a different biological component. They're sometimes offered together, but they are not the same treatment — ask us if you're unsure which you're being offered.
Because PRP is prepared from your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction or disease transmission is generally low compared to synthetic injections. As with any injection, there are risks like infection, bruising, or temporary soreness, which we'll review with you before treatment.
The Procedure
Most patients describe pressure or a brief sting rather than sharp pain. Tell us if you're anxious about needles — we can use a topical numbing agent and will walk you through each step.
Plan for roughly 60–90 minutes, including the blood draw, preparation, and injection.
It depends on your condition and how you respond. Some patients need only one session; others benefit from a second, spaced out over several weeks. We'll build a plan with you rather than assume in advance.
Cost & Insurance
In most cases, no — PRP is typically billed as a self-pay treatment. See our pricing page for a full, honest breakdown.
See our pricing page for current session pricing and package options.
See our pricing page for current financing and payment options, if offered.
Recovery & Results
Many patients report gradual improvement over several weeks as the tissue responds — it isn't usually immediate, and individual results vary.
Expect some soreness at the injection site for a day or two. We'll give you specific aftercare guidance, including activity limits and when to gradually return to normal routine.
No treatment can promise that, and we won't tell you otherwise. Many patients report meaningful relief, but individual results vary — a consultation is how we determine whether PRP is a reasonable option for you.
